This illustrated folding guide for identification shows common wildlife species, trees, shrubs and wildflowers and a short introduction to the geology of the Grand Canyon. Some fossils and rocks found in the canyon are also illustrated. You won't find any dinosaur bones in the Grand Canyon. Although its rocks are billion years older than most dinosaurs, the canyon itself only formed when dinosaurs were already extinguished.
What animals live in the Grand Canyon?
Each leaflet of the nature guide shows a specific type of animals. Common reptiles and amphibians, such as snakes and lizards, most encountered bird species of the Grand Canyon, such as Turkey vulture, woodpecker, California Condor, hummingbirds, Steller's Jay etc. Mammals that are typically found in the Grand Canyon include squirrels, skunks, chipmunks and more.
